Haa Alifu Atoll Council has decided to provide financial assistance to the islands of the atoll to carryout social programs and various projects that will benefit the people the islands.

According to the announcement by the atoll council, proposal can be submitted from Island council’s, Women’s Development Committees (WDCs), Government institutions, registered club and organizations in the atoll.

As part of the program, the Atoll Council provided financial assistance to seven islands in the atoll last year. They are Thuraakunu, Ihavandhoo, Vashafaru, Dhidhdhoo, Maarandhoo, Utheemu and Baarah. While these islands will not be allowed to apply for the program this year, the remaining seven will be given a chance this year. These islands are Uligamu, Molhadhoo, Hoarafushi, Kelaa, Filladhoo, Thakandhoo and Muraidhoo.

This year also Ha. Atoll Council has decided to release funds to the seven islands with the best proposal. MVR 1, 00,000 will be provided to each selected island under the project. Therefore, council requests to submit proposals before 1200hrs of April 9, 2023.

Moreover, if multiple proposals are made from the same island, the process of disbursing funds will be considered for the proposals that get the highest marks in the evaluation process.

The proposal form will be available from the Atoll Council and its website.
