‘Masjid Mohamed’, a newly built mosque by a businessman has been opened in Kulhudhuffushi City.
The mosque was opened on March 23, 2023, after Fajr Prayer. ‘Masjid Mohamed’ was build adjacent to the island’s eastern cemetery.
With the new mosque, previously used Masjid-al-Ula in middle of the cemetery has now been closed. Masjid-al-Ula was also built by an individual. According to the City council, around 400 people will be able to offer prayers at Masjid Mohamed at once. The mosque also have a special area where women can offer prayers.
Moreover, with this new mosque, currently there will be six mosques in Kulhudhuffushi City and two building for women’s to pray. Most of the mosques built in Kulhudhuffushi were built by individuals.
Apart from Masjid Mohamed, Masjid-al-Firdaus, Masjid-al- Hasanaath, and Masjid al-Noor were also built by individuals.
