Hiyala has won the Madhaha Competition held for Women of HDh. Makunudhoo by Women’s Development Committee (WDC).
Speaking about the tournament, WDC President Shaathia Mohamed Rasheed stated that it was a very successful competition and they would like to thank all those who have helped in conducting the competition successfully. In particular, the assistance provided by Hijra Carpentry (Abdullah Zaheen/ Dhunthari/K. Huraa) was noted.
Stating that this is the first time that a Madhaha competition was held for the women of Makunudhoo, Shaathia stated that such a competition was organised because the women of the island requested for it.
She also stated that nine teams and nine individual participants showcased their talent in the competition, which was held for every woman above the age of 18 years.
In the team category, the winner of the competition Hiyala team was awarded a cash prize of MVR 1,500, a trophy and certificate, while the second placed MHC Ladies received MVR 1,000, a trophy and a certificate. Team Black, who finished third, was awarded MVR 500, a trophy and a certificate.
Among the individual participants, Aminath Samra won the first position and was awarded a cash prize of MVR 1,500. Ranaa Ibrahim won the second place and was awarded with MVR 1,000, a trophy and a certificate, and Fathimath Shiyama who won the third place was awarded with MVR 500, a trophy and a certificate.
