Opportunity has been open to participate in Ha. Utheemu Aligadha Thari Quran Competition 1444.

The annual Quran competition is held during the holy month of Ramadan by Utheemu Council in collaboration with Wingers, a registered club in the island.

The purposes of the competition are to inculcate love for reciting the Holy Quran in the hearts of the people, to revive the art of reciting the Holy Quran, encouraging to memorize the Holy Quran, to encourage the developing Qari’s and Hafiz’s, to work towards protecting the Holy Quran, to create religious awareness, and to develop participants who can compete at national competitions.

The competition will be held for three days from 14th day of Ramadan. The island-level competition is open to all age groups people in Utheemu. Moreover, competition will be held for 5 age groups. They are foundation stage, below 7 years, 11 below years, below 16 years, and above 16 years. And except for foundation stage participants will have opportunity to participate in memorized and no memorized category, for foundation stage participants can participate in memorized category.

Furthermore, a trophy and a certificate will be awarded for each category and each age group winners of first, second, and third place. Also winner of the competition will be awarded with MVR 8000, for second place MVR 5000, and for third place MVR 3000.

Therefore, council requested those interested in participating in the competition to submit the application form before 1400hrs of March 22, 2023. Application form will be available and can be submitted to council’s reception.

In addition, Utheemu also has a branch of the Centre for the Holy Quran.
