Rare Squad has secured the second slot of the final of HZJ Volleyball Tournament 2023 organized by Hanimaadhoo Zuvaanunge Jamiyya (HZJ) by defeating Ummeedhu in the Semifinal match.
The semifinal match was played between the second placed Ummeedhu, and third place Rare Squad. Rare Squad won the match against Ummeedhu with 3 sets to 2 sets. Rare Squad won the sets 23/25, 25/20, 25/21, 15/25, 10/15. Shahumeela Abdul Hakeem of Rare Squad was selected as the best player of the Match.
First slot of final was secured by Hiyala by topping the group by winning all the matches of the group stage.
A total of five teams participated in the tournament. They are Hiyala, Barefoot, Rooh, Ummeedh and Reyru Squad.
The objectives of organizing the tournament are to inculcate and revive the spirit of the sports among the women of Hanimaadhoo, to enhance their volleyball skills, to improve unity among people, and allow them to play volleyball in a competitive environment.
Hanimaadhoo Zuvaanunge Jamiyya, which was registered in 1993, has been working for the development of the island since they were established. Moreover, they have won the National Award in 2016. This is the 30th consecutive year that the organization has been running unabated.
The final match is scheduled to be played at 1610hrs of March 19.
