Six recipients from Nolhivaranfaru has received ‘Bileh Kamana Award’ by Nolhivaranfaru Women’s Development Committee (WDC).

The award was given on the occasion of International Women’s Day, in recognition of women’s contribution in various fields and to recognize and empower the women in their workplace.

The award ceremony was held at Nolhivaranfaru School on Friday evening and was graced by the President of the Broadcasting Commission Mariyam Waheedha.

The six recipients of the award this year

  • Sara Yoosuf – Bokarumaage / HDh. Nolhivaranfaru (Administrative Field)
  • Shakeeba Mohamed – Huvan’dhumaage / HDh. Nolhivaranfaru (Health Sector)
  • Aminath Shahida – Roalhivaage / HDh. Nolhivaranfaru (Art/ Creativity)
  • Mariyam Hana – Dhunthari / HDh. Nolhivaranfaru (Healthy Lifestyle)
  • Fathimath Fauziyya – Shabunameege / HDh. Nolhivaranfaru (Education Sector)
  • Jameela Hussain – Zurich / HDh. Nolhivaranfaru (Volunteerism)

In addition, during the ceremony WDC also felicitated the winners of various sports held by the WDC between March 1 and 10 to mark the International Women’s Day. The Noluvaranfaru WDC also presented a plaque to the chief guest at the function.

The President of the WDC of the Island expressed her gratitude to the Nolhivaranfaru Council, Nolhivaranfaru Police, Nolhivaranfaru Fenaka and Nolhivaranfaru School for their support in conducting the award ceremony.

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8.
