Five recipients from Kulhudhuffushi City has received ‘Kamana Award 2023’ by Kulhudhuffushi City Women’s Development Committee (WDC).
‘Kamana Award’, is special award given by the Kulhudhuffushi City WDC, in recognition of women’s work in various fields on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The award was given on the occasion of International Women’s Day, in recognition of women’s contribution to national service and their role in national development and community building at the island level.
The award ceremony was held at Kulhudhuffushi Afeefuddin School Hall on Wednesday night. Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif, Kulhudhuffushi WDC President Khadheeja Moosa, members of the committee and members of Kulhudhuffushi City Council were present on the occasion.
Even though initially awards planned to be given in a total of nine categories, only 5 recipients received the award in 5 categories. These nine areas include politics, health, education, art and culture and heritage, small and medium enterprises, social sector, philanthropic work, news and information dissemination, and sports.

- News and Information Dissemination – Ummu Kulsoom Ibrahim / Landhooge
- Small and Medium Enterprises – Aishath Shimla Ali / Shady Grow
- Health Sector – Khadheeja Moosa / Aahi
- Philanthropic Work – Aishath Yoosuf / Aafahi
- Culture and Heritage – Shiyama Mohamed / Rihiveli
In addition, a total of 44 women who had served the WDC in the island were also felicitated on the occasion.
Moreover, objectives of the awards are to increase women’s participation in the country’s development and developmental efforts, recognize the valuable work done by women and their achievements, to encourage more women to join the national service, increase women’s participation in sectors where women’s participation is low, and recognize and appreciate the work of individuals working for gender equality.
