HZJ Volleyball Tournament 2023 organized by Hanimaadhoo Zuvaanunge Jamiyya (HZJ) has commenced.
The opening match of the tournament was played between Rooh and Ummeedh. Ummeedh won the match with 3 sets. They won the sets 25/11, 25/16, 25/19. Aishath Adam of Ummeedh was selected as the best player of the Match.
The second match played between Reyru Squad and Barefoot, Reyru Squad won with 3 sets.They won the sets 25/19, 25/16, 25/13. Shahumeela Abdul Hakeem of Reyru Squad was selected as the best player of the Match.
In the third match of the tournament Rooh will be playing against Hiyala at 1610 hrs of today and in the fouth match Reyru Squad will play against Ummeedh at 2010 hrs.
A total of five teams participated in the tournament. They are Hiyala, Barefoot, Rooh, Ummeedh and Reyru Squad.
The objectives of organizing the tournament are to inculcate and revive the spirit of the sports among the women of Hanimaadhoo, to enhance their volleyball skills, to improve unity among people, and allow them to play volleyball in a competitive environment.
Hanimaadhoo Zuvaanunge Jamiyya, which was registered in 1993, has been working for the development of the island since they were established. Moreover, they have won the National Award in 2016. This is the 30th consecutive year that the organization has been running unabated.
