Home Minister Sheikh Imran Abdulla has stated that a police post will be set up in HDh. Kumundhoo within three months once the land is provided to set up a police post in the island.
The Minister stated the remarks while responding to a question raised by Makunudhoo constituency parliament member Mohamed Raaee during the parliament session. As per Minister the work is getting delayed because the land to set up police post have not been provided yet.
Moreover, Minister stated that they have announced three times to find a place to develop the police post and only for the first announcement they received a bid. However, the price was too high according to Minister.
Furthermore, Minister stated that they are ready to develop a police post by taking place on rent even. But it can also be done if they get a place for a reasonable price. In addition, Minister also noted that the island council and the MP are already assisting in acquiring the land required for the construction of a police post in Kumundhoo.
Discussions to set up a police service in Kumundhoo were first held in 2020.
