STO to open its smart store next month

State Trading Organization (STO) is set to open its smart store in Hulhumale’ next month to be operated without cashiers.

Managing Director of STO Hussain Amru stated in a tweet that that smart store development project in Hulhumale’ is progressing at a fast pace and will be opened during next month.

The smart store to be developed by the STO is a new concept of store in the Maldives. Store is developed in the same place as its former shop in Hulhumale’.

The concept of grab and go was introduced to the world in 2016 and is a technology already being used in developed countries. With this STO store, the time customers have to spend at the store will be reduced.

In addition to the products imported and sold by the company, the store will also offer products from ordinary small businesses, according to the company. And the AI cameras at the shop are able to keep track of the store’s stock in the racks.
