To celebrate this year’s Women’s Day a ‘Madhaha’ competition and a Fish race will be held in HDh. Nellaidhoo.

According to the Vice President of the Nellaidhoo council Ahmed Rasheed, the Fish race and ‘Madhaha’ competition targeted for the women of the island will be organized by the Nellaidhoo Women’s Development Committee (WDC).

Moreover, he stated that a ‘Madhaha’ competition will be held on March 8 in which both groups and individuals will be able to perform in the competition. ‘Madhaha’ competition will be held on March 8, at 2045 hrs in the harbour area. 

The winning group of ‘Madhaha’ competition will be awarded with MVR 500, for the second MVR 300, and for third MVR 200. Also, MVR 500 will be awarded to for the first place from individuals, for the second MVR 300, and for third MVR 200. 

Furthermore, the Fish race is scheduled to be held on March 10. The first team of the fish race will be awarded with MVR1,200, the second team MVR 800 and the third team MVR 600. In addition, MVR 400 will be awarded to the person who catches the heaviest fish.

According to the Council, a maximum of five and at least three participants should be in each team of the Fish Race excluding vessels captain.
