Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded HDh. Naivaadhoo Harbour Development Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) under design and build basis.

At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Director General of the Ministry Fathimath Shaana Faarooq, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.

Under the project to develop Naivaadhoo Harbour MTCC has to dredge 15319.91 cubic meter of existing harbour basin, 41618.07 cubic meter new harbour basin, channel dredging operations of 15319.91 cubic meter, construction of a 300 meter breakwater, a 73.30 meter revetment, a 25 meter groyne, and a 231 meter quay wall. In addition, installation of mooring buoys, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, paving of 2087.85 square meter harbour pavement, construction of a ramp and access platform. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.

The MVR 47.51 million project was awarded to the company to be completed within 450 days.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
