Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that the construction of the Juvenile Justice Unit (Halfway House) in Ha. Hoarafushi is progressing at a fast pace.
The project was awarded to the company on July 29, 2022. And the company commenced the project on October 30, 2022. MTCC also updated on ongoing works stating that they have completed foundation beam and column works and roof beam works are underway, with 81% project progress.

The Halfway House is established to conduct the programmes for the Juveniles before they are released back to community, who have spent a certain period of time at a Juveniles correctional centre as specified in Article 82 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Moreover, Juveniles who are staying at Halfway Houses will be able to participate in the community in accordance with the guidelines set by the center to prepare before Juveniles start to live in the community.
The Halfway House construction project in Hoarafushi was awarded to MTCC for MVR 5.99 million to be completed within 150 days.
