The work of installing solar panels at Ha. Hoarafushi mosques has been successfully completed.

Three mosques in the island have been installed with solar panels as part of the project funded by Hoarafushi Council. The three mosques are Masjid-al Awwab, Masjid-al Ikhlas and Masjid-al Siddiq.

According to the President of Hoarafushi Council Mohamed Waheed project was awarded to Fenaka and the work was completed within three days of the commencement of the project. Waheed further stated that the cost of electricity of these mosques, will come to a halt from January as a result of this project. Moreover, AC’s are installed in these three mosques and currently the council is spending MVR 80,000 a month on electricity bills of the three mosques.

Furthermore, Waheed stated that the council intends to reduce the cost of electricity by using solar power for streetlights and buildings maintained by the council in the future.

In addition, Waheed thanked Fenaka Corporation and Managing Director of Fenaka Ahmed Saeed Mohamed and constituency MP Ahmed Saleem for their support in the successful implementation of the project.
