HDh. Nellaidhoo Fato Sports Academy has resumed its activities.
The academy was established in 2018 and was running till Covid-19 pandemic breakout. According to the President of the academy Farooq Adam, since the Covid-19 pandemic situation has been improved around the world and in our country academy’s activities have resumed.
In this regard a Futsal Fiesta was held in the island this December, out of which training programs were conducted. Farooq further noted that Futsal Fiesta was held for two age categories on Friday and Saturday with 108 children, and several talented and young players were identified.
Moreover, Farooq stated that after establishing the academy they did a lot of things until Covid situation slowed everything down. And then to install the turf in the pitch, all the activities were stopped. But the work has been completed and the pitch has already been handed over to the council. Therefore, they have requested the council that they want activities to be carried out for a longer period of time.
He added that once they get the ground officially, they have decided to conduct additional sports activities like Handball.
The Pato Sports Academy is aimed at producing talented players in Nellaidhoo.
