A state-of-the-art camera system has been installed at HDh. Hanimaadhoo Harbour.
The project was jointly undertaken by Hanimaadhoo Council and Maldives Police Service. The cameras have been installed on both sides of the harbour and can be used to track the entire harbour area. Hanimaadhoo police station is responsible for managing the harbour with the assistance of the installed cameras.
According to the Vice President of Hanimaadhoo Council Firaq Mohamed, the cameras installed at Hanimaadhoo harbour will enhance the security of public property and the harbour. Firaq further stated that the council’s vision is to expand and strengthen the process by installing cameras in the areas where most people gather in Hanimaadhoo and in important areas of the island and linking it with the current system. Moreover, on behalf of the Council, Firaq thanked the Maldives Police Service and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for their support and assistance in carrying out the project.
