Construction of HDh. Hirimaradhoo Mosque has begun.

A special ceremony was held in the island to mark the beginning of the project. Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and President of Hirimaradhoo Council Mohamed Waheed inaugurated the project. And Senior officials of the Ministry and the Hirimaradhoo Council attended the ceremony.

The MVR 8,752,398.95 project was awarded to Wavelength Private Limited to be completed within a year. The government-funded mosque at Hirimaradhoo will have a capacity of 300 people.

The mosque will be developed based on design designed in 2021, which will have ACs that to be operated using renewable energy by the time it is completed. The mosque will have a toilet, a oblution section, a store room and a Minaret. Moreover, separate area will be arranged  at the mosque for the women to offer prayers.

According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the decision to build a new mosque in Hirimaradhoo has been taken due to the lack of space in the currently used mosque in the island.
