Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) has started a joint surgery camp in collaboration with country’s main hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
According to KRH, the camp will be held from November 22-24, 2022. And in the camp Arthroscopic surgeries will be performed. Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which an examination and sometimes treatment of damage is performed using an arthroscope, an endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision.
In the camp senior consultant in orthopedics Dr. Hussain Shakeel, an experienced orthopedics doctor working at IGMH and vice-dean of the National Health Care Academy will lead the surgeries along with IGMH’s consultant in anesthesiology Dr. Asad Mohamed Shaheed, and Senahiya Military Hospital’s consultant in orthopedics Ali Mafaaz Rasheed.
Moreover, KRH’s orthopedics department doctors and nurses are working hard to ensure that opportunbity is provided to as many people as possible and to successfully complete the camp.
KRH has made significant progress in the last four years. In this regard, the number of doctors and nurses has been greatly increased, have started essential services such as MRI and therapeutics, and the need to travel to Male’ city for health care has been greatly reduced.
