Britain’s Billionaire Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic is set to start flights to the Maldives.
The airline stated it is scheduled to start operations during the winter of next year. The first flight is scheduled to operate on October 22, 2023. Although flights are scheduled for next year, booking will be open from November 30, 2022, onwards.
According to the airline, weekly, three flights will operate from London’s Heathrow Airport to Velana International Airport. And Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will be used for these flights.
Company’s CCO Juha Järvinen stated that the airline has always wanted to connect with its customers with various new destinations. He added that Maldives is a popular destination for Virgin Atlantic Holidays customers and it is a pleasure to offer this opportunity to its customers.
According to tourism statistics, the UK is ranked third among the countries with the highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year. A total of 155,018 tourists have visited the Maldives so far.
