President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the construction of the Sh. Bilehfahi Airport will continue without delay.
The President made the remarks during a meeting with the Bilehfahi Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Sunday at the President’s Office.
The most pertinent needs and developmental requirements of the island community were the main topics of discussion during the meeting held at the President’s Office.
The council members underlined during the meeting the many development initiatives made by the administration and observed that 95% of the projects promised by the President are currently underway.
On August 17, the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure had announced that it was looking for interested parties to build domestic airports in six islands, including Bilehfahi. Previously the Ministry had announced twice for interested parties to carry out the projects.
The housing ministry estimates that the development of the six airports will cost $133 million.
