A Labour Relations Authority (LRA) unit has been established and officially opened in North Miladhunmadulu (Shaviyani Atoll) yesterday.
The LRA unit has been set up at the Atoll Council office in Funadhoo, the capital of Sh. Atoll. President of Sh. Atoll Council Mohamed Shiyam officially opened the unit.
According to Atoll Council, in the meeting held after the establishment of an LRA unit in the atoll and the official opening of the unit today, the unit briefed the members about how they have planned the works of the unit and the work being done by the unit. And works of the unit will officially commence on November 1, 2022.
Moreover, the agency had earlier stated that they have been working to deploy staff in more atolls this year to decentralise the LRA work, and the aim was to start the work by deploying the authority’s staff in eight atolls by the end of the year.
The Labour Relations Authority (LRA) was set up under the Labour Act to define the basic employment norms in the country and to protect the rights and responsibilities of employers and employers.
