Laparoscopy is a type of surgical procedure that allows a surgeon to access the inside of the abdomen (tummy) and pelvis without having to make large incisions in the skin. This procedure is also known as keyhole surgery or minimally invasive surgery. Large incisions can be avoided during laparoscopy because the surgeon uses an instrument called a laparoscope. Laparoscope is a small tube that has a light source and a camera, which relays images of the inside of the abdomen or pelvis to a television monitor. Compare to invasive surgery laparoscopic surgeries recovery time is very short.
Laparoscopy is most commonly used in Gynecology, Gastroenterology, and Urology. Laparoscopy can be used to help diagnose a wide range of conditions that develop inside the abdomen or pelvis. It can also be used to carry out surgical procedures, such as removing a damaged or diseased organ, or removing a tissue sample for biopsy.
While empowering regional hospitals across the country, enriching and expanding the healthcare system is an important commitment of the current government, the introduction of Laparoscopic surgeries will be a great relief for the people of the region and will reduce the workload of the country’s main hospital. And the hardships of the people and the expenditure of the general public to avail such services will be greatly reduced.
KRH has made significant progress in the last four years. In this regard, the number of doctors and nurses has been greatly increased, have started essential services such as MRI and therapeutics, and the need to travel to Male’ city for health care has been greatly reduced.
