The Pakistan High Commission in Male (PHC) and the Pakistan Maldives Friendship Association (PMFA) met with representatives of the esteemed media outlets yesterday.
According to PHC, the President of the Maldives Media Council, the Managing Director of Public Service Media, and a representative from the Maldives Broadcasting Commission were invited to inform them about the upcoming “Telethon” that will be broadcast on Public Service Media on October 1, 2022, in order to raise funds to support the distressed people due to torrential rains and worst floods in Pakistan.
While speaking at the occasion, on behalf of PHC and PFMA, Zulqurnain Ahmad, Deputy Head of Mission expressed gratitude to the Managing Director of PSM Ali Khalid, President Maldives Media Council Mohamed Shafau Hassan, Maldives Broadcasting Commission, members from electronic and online media for their participation.
Moreover, the Pakistan High Commission acknowledges the Pakistan Maldives Friendship Association (PMFA) genuine efforts in putting together the Telethon for their Pakistani family members. While acknowledging the assistance provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, he appreciated the Public Service Media’s cooperation in making the Telethon on October 1, 2022.
Furthermore, Zulqurnain informed the guests on Pakistan’s flooding situation and aid efforts. He urged all of the media professionals and Maldivian family members to work together to make the Telethon a success while spreading the message to save lives and uphold human dignity.
Also, the Secretary General of PMFA Mariyam Fizana Rashyd, discussed the Telethon and solicited assistance from the media colleague to hold it in a befitting manner.
In addition, High Commissioner H.E. Vice Admiral (R) Ather Mukhtar expressed appreciation for the manner Maldivian brothers and sisters sent their troubled Pakistani brothers and sisters their thoughts and prayers. He emphasized that Pakistan’s recent flash floods are a direct result of climate stress.
