Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded HDh. Kurinbi Harbour Development Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) under design and build basis.

At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.

Under the project to develop Kurinbi Harbour MTCC has to dredge 34561 cubic meter new harbour basin, channel dredging operations of 2040 cubic meter, reprofiling and rectification of 69 meter existing breakwater,

construction of a new 226 meter breakwater, a 70 meter revetment, and a 314 meter quay wall. In addition, installation of mooring buoys, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, paving of 1561.61 square meter harbour pavement, construction of a ramp and access platform. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.

The value of the project is MVR 42.99 million and the project is to be completed within 365 days.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
