Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed the asphalt laying works under Ha. Hoarafushi Road Development Project will begin at the last week of this month.

According to the information provided by the company to the Public Service Media, asphalt laying works were scheduled to commence in July, however work was postponed due to bad weather. The project was commenced by MTCC in April last year.

As part of the road development project in Hoarafushi, before asphalt laying works, important works such as cable and utilities junctions, casting work and water drainage systems have been completed.

Under the project, 11 roads, a total area of 5.3 kilometers will be developed and an area of 2590 square meters will be levelled and paved. And, 11114 square meter pavement will be constructed along with the water drainage system. In addition, installation of street lights and road signs.

The project is worth MVR 71.90 million.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
