Shaviyani Atoll Council has signed agreements to provide MVR 200,000 in aid to health facilities in the atolls.
President of Shaviyani Atoll Council Mohamed Shiyam stated that the budget allocated to assist health facilities in 14 islands of the atoll has been allocated to assist in improving the health situation in the atoll. The assistance was provided by the Atoll Council to conduct awareness programmes to protect against non-communicable diseases and to provide specialized doctors consultation service to the islands.
Moreover, the aid is provided for the health facilities of the islands upon submission of proposals. In this regard, Shiyam stated 50 percent of the MVR 200,000 in aid has been distributed equally among the islands. The remaining 50 percent was distributed depending on the population of the island.
Shaviyani Atoll Council has been providing several assistance to the islands atoll. In this regard, MVR 5,000 was given to each island of the atoll to celebrate Eid al-Adha. Furthermore, Atoll council has allocated MVR 75,000 best three NGOs in the atoll. In addition, conducting training programmes such as handball coaches training.
