Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has introduced Doorstep Plus to facilitate easy registration for waste collection services.
WAMCO stated in a statement that the policy on registering households was changed in September last year to strengthen the waste collection services provided by the corporation across the country. With this change, waste collection services can be registered under the name of the owner of the building.
However, WAMCO noted that due to the change, they have received complaints from some customers regarding difficulties in registering for the services. Most of the customers are unable to register due to the lack of cooperation from the owner of the building or since the owner is living abroad.
For the Doorstep Plus service customers can apply via WAMCO’s website to allow customers to access WAMCO services easily. The service will be provided after paying a deposit (3 months waste collection fee which will be non-refundable) and a registering fee of MVR50 for waste collection services.
Moreover, WAMCO stated that if the owner of the building requests to change the waste collection service to his own name, the accounts of individuals residing in the building will be cancelled.
In addition, if customers have any query WAMCO requests to contact the call center at 1666 during call center opening hours.
