Kulhudhuffushi City Council and the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture have decided to launch a programme to provide trees free of charge to those who want to plant trees under a tree planting programme.

Therefore, Kulhudhuffushi City Council has requested those who need trees to nominate themselves before 1400 hrs of July 2, 2022, by using the online form created by the council.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture,  the programme is aspart of the agricultural policy for 2019-2023, to ensure food security in the agricultural sector. Moreover under the programme trees will be distributed to those who want, depending on the size of the land space they have available for planting the trees.

In addition, on the occasion of last year’s Farmers’ Day, President Solih urged farmers to continue to pay close attention to organic farming. Hence, the trees distributed under the programme can be easily grown on Maldivian soil without any chemicals.
