Foundation stone has been laid for the construction of new Mosque in HDh. Hanimaadhoo which can accommodate 500 people.
The foundation stone of the mosque was officially laid by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and President of Hanimaadhoo Council Abdul Sattar Hassan at a special ceremony held in Hanimaadhoo on last Friday.
Islamic Ministry stated that the construction of the mosque was awarded to contractors in February last year. The project was awarded to be completed within a period of one year. And MVR 11.9 million will be spent on the project.
Hanimaadhoo currently has four mosques. They are one mosque in the airport area and three mosques in residential area. Masjidul Moosa Ali, a mosque with a capacity of 700 people, was last mosque opened in Hanimaadhoo, which was back in 2017.
