Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture has awarded K. Kanduoi giri Harbour Development Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) under design and build basis.

At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Finance Executive of the Ministry Eenas Naseer, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.

Under the project to develop Kanduoi giri Harbour MTCC has to dredge 10000 cubic meter new harbour basin, channel dredging operations of 10000 cubic meter, construction of a 50 meter breakwater, a 63 meter revetment, and a 125 meter quay wall. In addition, installation of 215 meter sheet pile, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, installation of harbour pavement, and work will be carried out to install a fresh-water and salt-water line on the harbour. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.

The value of the project is MVR 36,132,701.77 million and the project is to be completed within 365 days.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
