STELCO to re-produce drinking water

State Electric Company (STELCO) has decided to re-produce drinking water.

Managing Director of the company Ahmed Shareef stated in a PSM News program that more sectors should be introduced into STELCO instead of being the only electricity service provider and that revenue should be increased. He further stated that the 50 megawatt engine established recently would produce as much water as Water Company produces

Moreover, Shareef noted that since STELCO has the capacity to produce water, plan is to utilize and efforts are underway to produce water and bring it to the market. STELCO began producing drinking water in 2017. However, the company later stopped the work.

Furthermore, Shareef stated that in addition to the water production business, STELCO also wants to enter real estate, advertising and electricity services in resorts.
