Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded Ha. Thakandhoo Harbour Development and Shore Protection Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company. MP of the constituency Ahmed Abdullah also graced this ceremony.

Under the project to develop Ha. Thakandhoo Harbour Development and Shore Protection MTCC has to dredge 4455 meter harbour basin, 2230 meter channel dredging, construction of a 252 meter breakwater, 126 meter groynes, a 160 meter revetment, a 264 meter quay wall, a connectivity bridge and a concrete jetty. In addition, installation of harbour lights, installation street lights, installation of navigational lights, installation of mooring bollards, and installation of 883 square meter harbor pavement. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.

The value of the project is MVR MVR 22,395,756.74.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
