Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded Sh. Maaungoodhoo Harbour Development Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) under design and build basis.
At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Under the project to develop Maaungoodhoo Harbour MTCC has to dredge 59013 cubic meter new harbour basin, channel dredging operations of 3245 cubic meter, construction of a 362 meter breakwater, a 105 meter revetment, and a 312 meter quay wall. In addition, installation of mooring buoys, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, installation of 1509 square meter harbour pavement, construction of a ramp and concrete jetty. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.
The value of the project is MVR 59,713,156.38 million and the project is to be completed within 475 days.
MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
