Mahjoob Shujau appointed as Managing Director of MACL

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which operates Velana International Airport (VIA), has appointed Mahjoob Shujau as the Managing Director (MD) of MACL.

Privatization and Corporatization Board has appointed Mahjoob Shujau as a member of the Board of Directors of MACL and as MD of MACL.

Mahjoob Shujau previously served as the Managing Director of HDC. He was the first MD of the HDC. Moreover, he also worked as a special envoy at the President’s Office to coordinate the development of Velana International Airport. Recently former acting MD of MACL Ibrahim Thoha has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director by the board.

MACL’s management was majorly changed following the dismissal of former UK-born Gordon Andrew Stewart as its MD. He was dismissed from his post on November 10, 2021.
