New 400kW Generator installed and started using in Neykurendhoo

Installation of the new 400 kW Generator has been completed in Neykurendhoo.

According to an Official from the Fenaka Neykurendhoo branch, even though the generator was transported to Neykurendhoo on February 10, 2022, they were unable to provide service for a long time since they had to bring some structural changes to the powerhouse to install the new generator. And now they have started providing service using the new Generator in the Island.

Moreover, the official from Fenaka stated that Neykurendhoo Police assisted in the installation process of the new Generator. With the assistance from Police most of the work on installing the new 400 kg generator was carried out by Fenaka engineers and employees of Fenaka Neykurendhoo branch during the month of Ramadan.

First electricity service in Neykurendhoo was provided 37 years ago back in 1985 by an individual. Sixteen years later, in 2001, electricity service in the Island was started by residents of the Island. The government began providing electricity services to the people in 2011.
