Operations of the new Powerhouse built by the government in Foakaidhoo has been started.

During a ceremony held in Foakaidhoo, Powerhouse was opened by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The ceremony was attended by Speaker of The Parliament Mohamed Nasheed and Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Mohamed Saeed.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President noted that Fenaka has constructed new powerhouses in 39 islands so far. Moreover, Fenaka stated efforts are underway to build new powerhouses in 31 more islands.

The new powerhouse in Foakaidhoo is a 1.5 megawatt powerhouse. A total of 3,000 metres of cable has been buried, four transformers have been installed and converted into a high voltage network to renew the distribution network.

In addition, the President noted that providing basic services to the people was his pledge, and that Fenaka is working to fulfil the pledge.
