Gdh. Gadhdhoo Harbor Development project has been awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry today, CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company and Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry.

Gadhdhoo Harbor Development project of MVR 38.41 million was contracted to MTCC by the Ministry of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on December 21, 2021, allocating a completion period of 365 days.

Under the Project MTCC have to  dredge a new harbor basin, construction of a 320 meter quay wall, a 232 meter breakwater, 35 meter revetment, 320 meter apron, and construction of 26 meter long 2 meter wide bridge will be undertaken. In addition, the installation of navigation lights, installation of streetlights, developing a 1600 square feet paved area, and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) will be undertaken.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours. MTCC is currently carrying out 62 projects across the country. Out of these, 34 projects are harbour development projects, and they have completed 23 harbour development projects in the past three years.
