Uligamu ‘The Great Maldivian Barbecue’ to be conducted on New year

Ha. Uligamu Council has decided to conduct ‘The Great Maldivian Barbecue’ on January 1, 2022.

The fishing event, held annually by the people of Uligamu, is linked to the island’s culture. Usually the event is held after Ramadan, however, the event is held at different times of the year depending on the situation. 

Speaking about the event, Uligamu Council President Ahmed Muaz Mohamed stated that the purpose of the fishing event is to revive the traditional culture as well as to strengthen relations between the people of the island’s.

Muaz further stated that various tasks have now been divided into groups among the public to carry out the fishing and barbecue event.
