Ihavandhoo Masveringe Gulhun (IMAGU) has planned to conduct several activities to mark this year’s Fishermen’s Day.

The five main activities planned by the IMAGU to mark the day are preparing a ‘Farivalhu’ a traditional feast for fisherman’s, a coir rope making/ ‘Fangivinun’ (a traditional house making material) competition for females, a fishing trip for females, an evening to showcase fishing equipments and resources, and a fishing race. These activities will be carried out in the Island from December 10 to December 18, 2021.

Ihavandhoo is one of the most famous islands for fishing in the Maldives. Moreover, in Ihavandhoo building of fiberglass fishing vessels is widely practiced, and a large number of modern fishing vessels are currently operating in the island.

IMAGU has grown into a very active organization that makes a significant contribution to the community. They have been conducting several programs and activities on a regular basis and assisting the community as a result.
