Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has commenced Ha. Maarandhoo Water and Sewerage project.

The project was inaugurated by Managing Director of MWSC Hassan Shah, Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Shifau, Kelaa MP Ibrahim Shareef and Haa Alifu Atoll Council President Moosa Shafeeq and President of Maarandhoo Council Jailam Haroon.

Under the project, work is underway to lay the pipeline required to establish a sewerage system. And 31% of construction of the water plant building has now been completed.

Moreover, as part of the project, a main network of 37.5 kilometers of water pipeline will be established, a RO facility building will be constructed and two RO plants will be installed to produce water. Also, three tanks will be installed to store water. And installation of water meters and water connection will be provided to all households.

Furthermore, as part of the sewerage system, a main network of 86.4 kilometers sewerage pipeline will be established, a 59.1 kilometer pumping line will be constructed, construction of four pumping stations and a sea outflow will also be established. And installation of junctions and sewerage connections will be provided to households.

MWSC will also provide generator sets, vehicles and water analysis equipment to maintain the island’s water and sewerage system.

The project is worth MVR 80.72 million.
