The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched the exhibition “Thasveeru: Maldives Through Art”.

Thoyyib Mohamed, CEO and MD of MMPRC, Suhail Ahmed, MD of Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and officials from MMPRC and HDC, as well as the media, attended the ceremony held at Hulhumale’ Central park to launch the exhibition.

According to MMPRC, their aim is to create an exhibition corner with the required stands at Central Park to create a platform for artists to display their pieces. Also to enhance the profile of Hulhumale’ as a tourist spot by creating tourist attractions

Moreover, the exhibition comprises of 12 winning pieces of the “Thasveeru: Maldives Through Art” competition, held in collaboration with the Maldivian Artist Community (MAC) from July 15 to August 15, 2021. The competition offered a platform for local and international artists to paint and interpret the Maldives under the theme, “Celebration of Nature: Beautiful Ecosystems”. Winners of the competition were selected based on 50% of instagram likes and 50% of the total score given by a judging panel.

The Thasveeru art competition was initially introduced as part of Visit Maldives’ social media initiatives to promote the destination as a top choice for travelers in the worldwide market and to improve engagement on Visit Maldives’ social media platforms. The competition gave local artists the opportunity to express the destination’s awe-inspiring beauty and natural ecosystems.
