Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded the Shore protection project in Kolhufushi.
At a ceremony held at the Ministry of National Planning, the agreement for the project was signed by COO of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa. Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Hameed signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry.
Under the project, a revetment of 136.6 meters will be constructed on the north-eastern side of Kolhufushi and a revetment of 382.2 meters will be constructed on the south side of the island.
Moreover, a total of 202.40 meters of breakwater will be established, adding sand to the southern beach of the island, and an area of 60 meters and 30 meters will be dredged to make an area to be used as a swimming area.
The project is worth MVR 22.96 million.
MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports and harbors.
