Neykurendhoo School has celebrated Dhivehi Week.
The Dhivehi week was held at the school from November 21 to 25, 2021. Dhivehi week events began with a special assembly held at the school. All students from the foundation of the school to grade 10 participated in the activities.
The activities held to mark the Dhivehi Week include displaying various stalls featuring the past lives of Maldivians, various sports played by the forefathers, poetry readings and news readings between classes.
In addition to the debate competition held in between the houses, students also participated in a drama competition and an opportunity for students to experience Aveli, a traditional food at the Interval period this morning.
Moreover, according to Hassan Abdul Rahman, who is currently incharge of the school, said that the purpose of the event is to revive the Dhivehi language, inculcate love for the Maldivian language in the hearts of students, and teach maldivian culture and customs to the students. Furthermore, he appreciated the support received from parents to successfully conduct the events.
Currently, 162 students are enrolled at Neykurendhoo School.
