Human Rights of the Maldives (HRCM) has started an Integrated Human Rights program in Kulhudhuffushi City.
A meeting between HRCM and the city council was organized to explore how to uphold human rights and raise awareness among people. HRCM also shared their opinions on Women’s Development Committees (WDC) plans on how to improve women’s rights in the city, during a meeting with the WDC.
Moreover, a workshop for councillors, training of trainers for human rights defenders, visits to elderly and autistic individuals in the city, a community night, and a human rights fair will also be held as part of this program.
Furthermore, information sessions about whistleblower legislation for government employees, information sessions about business and human human rights for businesses and companies, awareness sessions on anti-torture regulations, and the establishment of a human rights information desk in the city.
The program’s purpose, according to HRCM, is to provide their services to people in an efficient and in a sustainable manner. As well as raising awareness about decentralization among government agencies and NGOs.
In addition, the program will run until the 13th of this month.
