Kulhudhufushi Regional Hospital has done more than 500 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), within three months.
MRI services began in KRH on 15th March 2021, and this was a project that costed more than MVR 23 million.
“This is a huge achievement for us. The project by the government to upgrade health services to tertiary standard in 5 areas of the country is a very important project. Starting MRI services brought a lot of easiness to the citizens, financially and in transportation also. Specially in the difficult time of Covid-19 pandemic” Said Manager of KRH health services, Ahmed Dawood
He also said that the most difficulty they are facing while providing the service is lack of MRI technicians. Specially they need more radiographers to the radiology department. They are in need of technicians for X-ray, MRI, CT and Mammogram and they are currently working to increase the number of staffs.
The MRI reports are prepared along with a company from abroad that provides the service and current target is to issue reports within 72 hours.
“We are working to give the report on the very next day of MRI, but a delay is there as the Radiologist needs to check the report. We are trying to issue the reports faster than now as to streamline the service more” said Ahmed Dawood
He also said in somedays a wait list of 100 patients for MRI were there but currently there are 7 patients in the waitlist. KRH is a hospital where most of the people receive health services other than the Male’ area hospitals.
