Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that the renovation of Ha. Alif Hoarafushi airport has completed. The renovation work was completed on 8th June 2021.

The airport underwent renovation due to the damages caused by extreme weather with massive wave surges in last month. Various damages were caused to the airport terminal, some of the equipment in the terminal and to the accommodation block. The runway also got covered with sand.

This airport was officially opened by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in 19th November 2020. The airport was developed by MTCC for MVR 198 million and still now MTCC cater’s for renovations.

 

The airport was built with 1200m runway,8635m2 apron and a taxi way. The roads infront of the terminal was also developed, including 9473m2 of parking area, 1718m2 fire excess road , 720m airport security and a beach fence.
