National Centre for Cultural Heritage has opened bidding to build a souvenir shop and a cafe’ at Boduthakurufaanu Memorial Centre.

In a notice published by the Centre says it is opened for all the interested small to medium level businesses registered in business database.

The souvenir shop and cafe’ needs to be built according to the information provided by the National Centre for Cultural Heritage. Information providing sessions will be at 11:30 am of 15th June, at National Centre for Cultural Heritage, National Museum and at Boduthakurufaanu Memorial Centre. Bid applications also will be on above three places on 23rd June at 11:30am. All the late parties for the information session and application will be rejected  according to the notice published.

Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage says there vision is developing Boduthakurufaanu Memorial Centre as a modern complex including a museum, Multi-purpose hall, souvenir shops, restaurants and cafe’s. More than a million MVR was budgeted to develop a museum in the historical island, Utheemu. Currently the developments in the Boduthakurufaanu Memorial Centre is made by heritage trust fund.

Utheemu in Haa Alifu Atoll, in the northernmost extremes of the Maldives is the homeland of Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu (Boduthakurufaanu). He was one of the most revered heroes in history of Maldives. Every year a lot of people visits the historical places in Utheemu.
