The kelaa council says that a portion of the mangrove has died.
The Kelaa Council president has informed Thiladhun that the 3/1 is dead due to the presence of several endangered species in the mangrove, including a variety of mangrove species.
He states that the plants that have begun to die are those that were previously healthy. mangrove plant known as “bodu vaki “are on the verge of extinction.
“There is concern that plants are dying due to a lack of understanding about the exact cause. plants that have perished in the past do not regrow. In partnership with an Indian institution, the Environment Ministry conducted a survey last year. However, there was no effective outcome, and the EPA made no appropriate suggestion on the subject. ” by Kelaa Council President Abdulla Infaz
According to the Kelaa council , The council is preparing a report to the Environment Ministry on the extinction of plants in mangrove. The Kelaa mangrove is the largest wetland in Boduthiladhunamthi that is been protected.
Last year, the University of Science and Technology in Kochi, India, conducted a survey with the aim of examining the numerous causes of dying plants, but the council has stated that the survey result was not received.
Brugueira hainesii is a new variety of endangered mangrove plant discovered in the kelaa mangrove.
