Ministers assigned to three northern atolls to strengthen Covid-19 monitoring.

Due to the current situation of covid-19 the Ministry of Health has assigned three ministers to three northern most atolls.

Minister of State for Education, Aishath Aathiya Naseer to Haa Alif atoll, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Athif to Haa Dhaalu atoll and Minister of State for Education Dr. Abdhulla Rasheedh Ahmed to Shaviyani atoll.

Ministry of Health has stated that the covid situation has worsen and spread amongst islanders has increased. In order to strengthen the monitoring structure and coordination ministers will be assigned to all atolls. These individuals will work closely with the covid-19 task force and Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC).

Health minister has said that this was a decision taken by the precedent in efforts of betterment of the covid-19 situation.

Currently, actions to control the spread of covid-19 are taking place. More than 70 islands are prohibited of domestic travel and curfews have been set.
