Ha Alif Dhidhdhoo MP, Mr. Abdulla Waheedh requests to establish covid-19 testing and a covid-19 facility at Ha Alif Atoll hospital. While speaking in the parliament today regarding the current situation of covid-19, he detailed all the difficulties and challenges faced by his people.

Ha Alif Atoll Hospital is in Dhidhdhoo which caters for a population of 27,000 in the atoll. Being the far most North atoll from capital Male’ , he explained the importance of   covid-19 testing  and a facility in the area. Now people has to travel to Shaviyani Atoll or the samples are sent there and the expenses are higher for transportation and a lot of time is consumed. Moreover the rough weather makes it more difficult and challenging.

He also spoke about the importance of decentralizing to manage the spread of covid-19 and give opportunity for the island councils to make decisions. He also requested to Minister of Health to provide testing services and covid-19 facility as soon as possible.

Recently covid-19 began to spread in the Ha Alif atoll. At the moment there are  41 active cases in Dhidhdhoo, and the island is on monitoring since 1st of May. There are 26 active cases in Ha Alif Muraidhoo as well and the island is on monitoring since 18th of this month. Active cases are also present in some more islands in the Atoll.
